Tribute to Founder :
I feel it an honour to be here today to say final goodbye to a great man,
my Agui,Good bye Agui, till we meet again.
To the man who used to lay claim to this land and to this great family. To a man
who belonged to this land and this household. As much as we treasured Agui,
we could not claim him only for ourselves, he belonged to everyone, the British
Empire as a soldier and Kenya as a good citizen, a farmer, a church leader, a business
leader and a founder of Tenai Education Centre. And in the end, he was a follower of Christ,
he belonged to the Lord
Agui was a precious grandfather, a man we were all proud of, a loyal, joyful and
welcoming, intelligent and witty to the end. He was the most wilful man, resilient
in the face of numerous challenges in his life from youth to his golden years. He
narrated to me all his youthful experience of his youth, while abroad in Burma fighting
the mighty Japanese and at home. His intelligence always shone through his good Kiswahili
and his brilliance, talked to us with patience, love and humility. I aspire to match his
greatness Wilson Kiplagat arap Tenai (Kong’a) , thank you for inspiring us for allowing
us to understand that through God and family it is possible to achieve. I will never
forget the look in Agui’s eyes, smile and the toe and finger nails I always cleaned and worked on.
His eyes were always had warmth and depth that would warm the heart. You
definately left a mark in this world. You are a great man and we know you will be
Greater in heaven
